What is the Difference between Support Coordination and Recovery Coach Services?

My Choice Supports Recovery Coaches all have a learned (and sometimes) a lived experience of mental health. This means that they have all studied and/or developed their career supporting people living with a mental health condition and delivering person certred, recovery-oriented support.

Support Coordinators do not necessarily have experience supporting people with a mental health condition. The main difference is that generally, Recovery Coaching is a more connected experience offering support around a recovery support/action plan and more hours of supports in a plan.

At My Choice Supports, we believe that all Recovery Coaches should also understand how to deliver Support Coordination services. This is because there are only rare occasions that both Recovery Coaching and Support Coordination are both funded in a plan. Yet, we find that Participants request workers who also have a very good understanding of how to assist them to navigate the NDIS system.

Support Coordination and Recovery Coaching assists you to understand, implement and maximise your NDIS experience. Every participant has the right to a positive NDIS experience.
